Our Vision
As a congregation, Cairo feels called to fulfill the vision that God has
given us. That vision is summed up in the following phrase:
"Where everybody is somebody and
Jesus Christ is Lord!"
There are three key areas to our
vision. We strive to make Cairo:
The Church to be Open to Christ:
"...Jesus Christ is Lord!" Our desire is to enable people to have a face
to face encounter with Jesus Christ by being vital in worship; and being
fully open to Christ by being dynamic Disciples.
The Church to be Open to the
Community:
"Where everybody..." Someone you know
needs Jesus in their lives. We must actively reach the un-churched people
in our world by becoming effective in evangelism.
The Church to be Open to the
Congregation:
"...is somebody..." Our desire is to provide a place where people will
connect with the life of the church and develop lasting friendships, to
use our gifts that God has given us to touch the lives for others, and to
offer compassionate care for the hurting of our church.
Our Mission
As a church congregation, we join every other Christian congregation in
following the mission that Jesus laid out to all churches. That mission is
to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission that Jesus
Christ gave to all churches.
The Great
Commandment:
Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law? Jesus replied,
"Love your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with your
entire mind..... And second is like it, Love your neighbor as yourself.
All the law and prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matthew 22:
36-40)
The Great Commission:
"Then Jesus
came to them and said, all authority in Heaven and on earth has been given
to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and
teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am
with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28: 18-20)
