God’s Pharmacy

Monday, February 25th, 2008

I don’t have a valid source on this but isn’t God’s pharmacy amazing?  …

A sliced carrot looks like the human  eye The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human  eye…and YES science now shows that carrots greatly enhance blood  flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red.  The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows  tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the  shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of  the research today shows that grapes are also profound heart and  blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a  left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums.  Even the wrinkles or folds are on the nut just like the  neo-cortex. We now know that walnuts help develop over 3 dozen  neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help  maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human  kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and more look  just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength.  Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don’t  have enough sodium in your diet the body pulls it from the bones,  making them weak. These foods replenish skeletal needs of the  body.

Eggplant, Avocados and Pears target the  health and function of the womb and cervix of the female – they  look just like these organs. Today’s research shows that when a  woman eats 1 avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted  birth weight and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is  this? …. It takes exactly 9 months to grow an avocado from  blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic  chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods  (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of  them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos  when they grow. Figs increase the motility of male sperm and  increase the numbers of sperm as well to overcome male  sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas  and actually balance the glycemic index of  diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function  of the ovaries

Grapefruits, oranges  and other citrus fruits look just  like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the  health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the  breasts.

Onions look like body cells. Today’s  research shows that onions help clear waste materials from all of  the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial  layers of the eyes.

Go out to the market and buy you some veggies!

Top Quizzers!

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

We had an excellent quiz meet Saturday. Four of our quizzers attended the zone finals in Valdosta. Of a total 300 points, three of our girls placed! 3rd place ~ Brooklyn Sheets (275 points); 2nd Place, Mikaela Farmer (280 points); and 1st Place ~ Deborah Bontrager (290 points) These three also memorized all twnety scripture verses for the year.

I would also like to dote on Jaimee Burt and Randi Tapscott who both persevered throughout the year. Both  are quizzing for the first time this year. And though they were not able to place, they both kept at it and scored quite well at each meet.

The children are all winners because they are hiding God’s Word in their hearts. And that will stick with them throughout their lives. Great job, kids!

Deborah, Mikaela, & Brooklyn will now advance to the State Quiz meet in Atlanta on March 8th. God’s Blessings, girls!

Birdwatching

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

I’ve never been much of a nature person. I never really saw the need to know all that information about nature. I didn’t understand why I needed to know more than “That is a tree, this is a bird”

I remember once as a young girl when my father brought a flower in from the field. He had never seen the type before. He wanted to show it to my grandfather to see if he might know what kind of flower it was. As we were all sitting down to supper, my father asked him if he “knew what it was”. My grandfather’s response was “It looks like a flower to me!” Everyone burst into laughter. I have a feeling my grandfather knew a lot about nature. He was a farmer and kept a detailed journal. But his response was right up my alley.

His response has always been how I would respond to this type of question. (I must admit that this carries into other areas of life as well. For instance, a car is a car, just as a flower is a flower. I might recall the color from time to time. :) I think the actual issue for me is that I am just not that observant. (Something I should work on.)

If there is one species I might be more interested in, it would be birds. We had a young Amish girl that came and helped out on the farm while I was young. She loved birds and knew alot about them. I did pick up from her some of their songs and which birds were which. And I do occasionally enjoying watching them and looking for the beautiful colors they come in.

This weekend offers a great opportunity for bird watchers.

THE GREAT BACKYARD BIRD COUNT takes place from February 15-18, 2008.

One of my homeschool e-mail lists sent this information out today. I think it will be a great asset to our Biology lessons. Even though we aren’t doing the Avian section right now, it might be something we should go ahead and participate in……

(from Clickschooling) We have recommended this activity and website annually for a number of years. It offers an incredible opportunity for your family to participate in a real scientific research study on wild bird populations – just by counting the birds you see in your own backyard and reporting your results by following the directions at the
GBBC website. Don’t miss it! Get the details here: http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/

If we can’t get it done this weekend, I think I will definately ear mark this website. It’s full of information about birds. You can even get a checklist of the birds that frequesnt your area.

Happy Birdwatching!  Let me know if you see any interesting birds!

Today is the Day of Salvation

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

My husband has been challenging the congregation to find one person this year that God would lay on our hearts to pray for and possibly bring to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Imagine the difference it would make in our church and in Moultrie, if we each were instrumental in bringing someone to Christ! I’m getting excited!

Sunday, Michael and I were privileged to get to pray with a lady at church who ask the Lord to be her Savior for the very first time. She is a senior citizen. The statistics for leading a senior citizen to Christ are very low. So we were very thrilled. It is so encouraging to see that the Word is not going out void. That night, I received a note from a new friend (a pastor’s wife). She shared that they, also, had lead a senior citizen to Christ that day!

This has really encouraged me and confirmed for me the God is ready to do something great.

Ironically, the next day, I was finishing up a book I’ve been reading “A New Song” by Jan Karon. The final chapter of the book was the pastor getting up in the pulpit at Homecoming and laying out the plan of salvation  gently and simply. For him, the result was wonderful as well … a neighbor who was resistant of the gospel was there and accepted Christ as his Savior. I believe this is the first novel I have read that had the plan of salvation written out in it and showed the response to that message. It thrilled me even more. Reminding me that “Today is the day of salvation”.

I hope that those reading this BLOG all know Jesus as their personal savior. Not just a God out there “running things”. But that you can know him personally and can speak with him daily. If not, please click on my link “Becoming a Christian”

For the rest of us, please pray for these two new christians. Pray that they will draw closer and closer to God. Pray that we, as their pastor and wife, can disciple them and help them grow. Pray for all our churches that we will be ready to disciple those coming into the fold. It’s not enough to lead them to Christ and say “Hallelujiah, Amen!”. We must lead the way guiding new Christians along the way.
