Cleanliness

Friday, April 25th, 2008

The American Society for Microbiology studied the hand-washing habits of Americans and found some disturbing results. The researchers hid in stalls or pretended to comb their hair as they observed 6,333 men and women in rest rooms in five cities.

They found that in New York’s Penn Station only 60 percent of those using rest rooms washed their hands. At a Braves game in Atlanta, 64 percent washed. “Hand washing in this country has become all but a lost art,” said epidemiologist Dr. Michael Osterholm. And that’s not good.

To prevent disease, it is recommended that we wash our hands in the following manner: Use warm or hot running water. Use soap. Wash all surfaces thoroughly, including under the fingernails. Rub hands together for 10 to 15 seconds.

God also has advice on how to be clean—that is, how to be clean within. Our spiritual health depends on it.*

1) Use the alive Word of God. Fresh and anew. Are you getting a fresh word from God every day (in your devotion time) or even every week (at church)?

2) Use the cleansing Blood of Christ.  Have you applied the blood of Jesus Christ to your heart and life. Do you claim his cleansing work every day when you arise?

3) Wash all surfaces thoroughly, Do you apply new instruction to every area of your life or are you hiding certain things from God (as if you could). Do you hear the annoited Word and pass it off as for someone else? Are your giving EVERY area of our life to God?

4) Rub hands together  Are you “rubbing shoulders” with other Christians at Bible Study, Sunday School, and worship times? They might be able to bring you up closer to Him. You’ve heard the scripture “Iron sharpens Iron”?

Just a few thoughts to consider.

Home Remedies

Here’s a good laugh for you!

AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME  REMEDIES

1. If you are choking on an ice  cube simply pour a cup of boiling water down your throat. Presto! The  blockage will instantly remove itself.

2. Avoid cutting yourself slicing  vegetables by getting someone else to hold while you  chop.

3. Avoid arguments with the Mrs.  about lifting the toilet seat by using the shower.

4. For  high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few  minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use a timer.

5. A mouse trap, placed on top of  your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep  after you hit the snooze button.  (My favorite)

6. If you have a bad cough, take a  large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough

Daily Thought:

SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES. NOT  REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED  DOWN THE STAIRS.

Wake Up America!

Friday, April 4th, 2008

I’m wondering what it will take for Christians to wake up and take a stand. We sit around in our “holy huddles” never caring about the lost world around us. We “talk” of the awful sin in the world, but we refuse to recognize that Jesus loves the sinner. When will we start reaching out and caring about the lost? When will our hearts soften and begin to break over the lost people right within our own reach? When will we quit worrying about “getting our hands dirty” and give that lost soul a hug? When will we start showing Christ to the world?

I just watched the first of a “film” series about the hate crimes bill that is threatening to silence the Christian. (go here to see it for yourself. Very alarming  …..  SilencingChristians.com ) You see, in this world of “tolerance”, we do not have tolerance at all. That is, IF you are a Christian. The fact of the matter is we are to tolerate everything BUT Christianity. And sadly, it’s our own fault. We have become “holier than thou” and anything but loving to the sinner.

Christian … please get off your knees (assuming that you’re even doing that) and do something. Write a letter, support a group financially that IS doing something, call your senator, get brave and stand up for your rights where you are. Like the commercial says .. “Just Do It”

We are on the verge of even silencing our pastors from preaching against sin because that would be considered a “hate crime”. I’m afraid that we need to be bracing ourselves. We need to get ready for the pesecution prophesied for the end times. I think we are about to usher it all in.

Praying for Your Children

Friday, April 4th, 2008

Are you praying for your children? It is the most important thing you can do for them. Recently, my husband and I went to pastors’ and wives’ retreat. While there, the college rep came to share about the university. She gave us a small booklet of prayers that they give to parents of incoming freshman. The booklet has a prayer for each day of the month. Though the prayers are for the college student, I began praying these prayers for my children. I find that most of them are applicable to children of any age.

I strongly believe that we should be praying about our children and their future… not just the things that surround them now.  If you haven’t been praying already, here’s a few things to put on the list.

1.  Pray for her salvation and a strong personal relationship with her Lord and Savior.

2.  Pray for his future spouse. Pray that they will both remain pure until their wedding day.

3. Pray for guidance as she chooses a career.

4. Pray that he will find good Christian friends that influence him for the good AND that he will be the same type of friend to others.

There’s a few for you to get started on. Maybe you have some others you would add. Please make a comment.
