If you are taking guitar or flute lessons at CHAT we will be meeting this Friday (Fall Festival Day) at 8:45 am. Mr. Eric and I decided this would give you the best scenario, since we only have classes for one Friday in November. We want you to receive the most instruction possible, and this will give you time to be done by 9:30 to set up for Fall Festival. Sorry to get you up early, but please come!
Thank you!
Mrs. Theresa

P.S. I’m checking on this “One Friday in November”, It is not stated on the calendar from orientation this way. ANyone know for certain about November 20th?

United Streaming

Here is the info on accessing United Streaming. I know you’ll enjoy having this resource at your fingertips!

For those of you who don’t know, this is a free resource for homeschoolers in GA! (Most states have to pay for a subscription). With an account, you have access to thousands of educational videos and clips about a wide variety of topics. All of the Magic School Bus videos are on there, as well as the NEST History videos!!! (and MUCH more)

NOTE: This is a collection that you will need to preview many of the videos to make sure they are teaching content that lines up with the Word of God! I’ve run across some things that I didn’t want to show my kids—but it is an excellent resource for adding visual/media experience to your homeschooling. Here is the information on how to get an account:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for your interest in unitedstreaming.
Each year your account will expire on June 30.
To process the request, I will need the following information:
1. A statement that you would like a passcode to access the GPB video streaming content
2. Your name, address, phone number and email address also need to be included in the letter
3. A copy of your declaration of intent to homeschool; note your child must be six years of age before September 1; otherwise you need to wait until the following year
Please fax this information to my attention at 404-685-2556 or 2557 or 2268; by e-mail or by regular mail to:
Plans for Fall 2009-2010
Posted Tuesday, July 21st, 2009
Posted in Attention Everyone | Comments Off
We had a very productive meeting tonight. And now have a good plan set in place. I will lay out a basic plan for teens (6th grade and up) to take place at CHAT on Fridays in Norman Park at the Baptist Assembly. Below that I will try to give more explanation and indicate where we have leaders and where we need leaders. (Contact specific leaders to help in that area) There are classes available for all ages from infant to 5th grade as well. Contact Theresa James or Amy Bloodworth for more information or to sign up for areas of service. Go to www.moultriechat.com for more information about CHAT
Basic Friday Plan
First Fridays of each month – fieldtrip day
Remaining Fridays
9:15am check-in
9:30am Assembly all ages together prayer, pledges, worship time
9:45am Choir/music – Mr Gilbert ($12 per month)
10:30am – Bible Survey – Eric Foster-Whiddon
11:30am – Instrument Instruction – $25 per month (4 student minimum)
Guitar – Eric Foster-Whiddon/Mary Folsom
Flute-Theresa James
or Study Hall/Volunteer with younger children
12:15pm – Lunch
1:00pm – Clubs (different each week)
2:00pm – Sports
Kathy Nelson will offer independent study art for those who want it
Mandy Farmer will offer Independent study Latin
Presently, no second options are being offered. The alternative for now is study hall or to volunteer to help with a younger group for the hour. Other options may be developed as we get into things. And as parents come forward to lead in other areas.
Parents.. if you are willing to help with any of these classes/clubs contact the listed teacher. We definitely need helpers.
Explanations:
Worship Time – We would like to work towards having our teens help us worship with their instruments/voices
Choir/Music – We want to encourage EVERYONE to participate in this class. At least try it for a month.. Mr Gilbert is planning to teach parts and do some wonderful things. Think how beautiful a large home school choir would be. Mr Gilbert has aspirations of performing at nursing homes and our own churches. This is a steal for the price.
Bible – This will be offered as a weekly class or optionally for full credit for high school students with assignments each week. First semester Old Testament Survey and the Wisdom and Poetry Second Semester – New Testament & the Epistles
Group Instrument Lessons – Guitar with Eric Foster-Whiddon or Flute with Theresa James
Any other teachers out there?
Clubs
2nd Week – Math and Science – Judy Folsom This will be fun projects and games applying to math and science
3rd Week – Latin Club – Mandy Farmer – This is open to everyone. We’ll Use a book Latin Everyday Everywhere.($15 used $30 new to be used for at least two years) We’ll learn Latin phrases used all the time in the English language. This will improve your English vocabulary. There will probably be two projects to present sometime during the year.
4th Week – Home Ec – Diana Paulk & Rebecca Bontrager – from cooking to design – This will develop as people come forward to offer their expertise.
5th Week – Art Workshop with Kathy Nelson
Sports – Many things are available at the Baptist Assembly (tennis, putt putt, swimming, etc etc) We would like to concentrate on one sport for 3-6 weeks, then move on to something new.
We need parents willing to plan and help with this.
Student Council will meet as needed to plan activities and the Spring outing.
Yearbook committee has been established contact CHAT leaders to get involved.
Parents are welcome to help in any age group (0-2; 3 & 4’s; K-2; 3-5)
We would love to see more offered for boys or those not interested in music and art
Blessings!
Mandy Farmer
P.S. It has been my pleasure to help get things going so that we could make decisions for our teenagers. However, I am NOT the teen rep for CHAT nor am I on the board. Please contact Theresa or Amy for further questions or applications. Contact me only concerning questions about Latin.
I do know that CHAT annual fee is $60 (payments can be arranged if needed).
God World News subscriptions (received at CHAT) are only $8 if paid by Wed July 22
(Elementary groups will be using this on Fridays) Call Amy.
Parents meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 27 7pm at the Baptist Assembly.
